Before the room opens
Facilitation readiness is relational, theological, operational, and accessible.
Know the room
Confirm access, seating, sound, captions, lighting, quiet space, food, transport information, emergency routes, supplies, and privacy boundaries.
Know the limits
Clarify facilitator authority, pastoral and professional roles, safeguarding leads, crisis pathways, documentation rules, recording choices, and how concerns are escalated.
Nonnegotiable safeguards
Protect people before protecting the schedule.
- Participation, prayer, and personal disclosure remain voluntary; silence and passing are valid choices.
- Do not present a facilitator's interpretation as God's directive for another person, organization, community, or public authority.
- Use fictional, public, or fully deidentified scenarios; do not invite patient identifiers, personnel records, privileged information, constituent data, classified information, or another person's private story.
- Separate pastoral presence from medical, behavioral-health, legal, employment, financial, safeguarding, and emergency responsibilities.
- Pause ordinary workshop flow for immediate safety, abuse, coercion, acute psychiatric symptoms, or medical emergency and use qualified local pathways.
- Obtain separate, specific permission before recording, photographing, attributing a quotation, publishing a testimony, or sharing a participant-created artifact.
- Name uncertainty, dissent, intragroup diversity, and the limits of the available regional record.
- Close every gathering with a named follow-up owner, date, communication channel, and correction pathway.
