How to Facilitate a Spiritual-Gifts Workshop
A complete planning guide for safe, participatory Christian spiritual-gifts workshops using assessment, activation, and follow-up.
Define the formation purpose
Clarify whether the gathering introduces gifts, administers the complete inventory, develops facilitators, provides activation laboratories, or launches a longer formation process. Name the theology, audience, time, safeguarding pathway, and follow-up leader before registration.
Prepare the environment
Use accessible seating, clear movement paths, a quiet area, visible activation stations, water, tissues, assessment access, consent language, incident procedures, referral information, and trained facilitators. Child participation requires guardian consent, approved personnel, check-in and check-out, and host child-safety procedures.
Establish the community agreement
Participants may pass, pause, leave an exercise, or request another facilitator. Touch requires permission each time. Impressions remain testable. Confidentiality carries stated safety limits. Photos, recordings, and testimonials require separate consent. Consequential decisions remain within responsible discernment and qualified counsel.
Administer the inventory
Explain the 0-to-4 scale, five evidence dimensions, 21 expressions, scoring, Evidence Breadth, and formative purpose. Invite responses from the previous two years or the most relevant sustained ministry season. Provide quiet time and accessibility support without influencing answers.
Interpret the profile
Review totals, breadth, dimension patterns, gift constellations, life stories, opportunity, context, and surprise. Respond to disappointment with curiosity. A hoped-for gift may need opportunity. An unexpected gift may reveal fruit others have already recognized.
Run activation laboratories
Every laboratory begins with consent, names clear limits, includes a facilitator, serves people, and ends with feedback. Participants describe observed behavior, credible fruit, uncertainty, stewardship needs, and the next proportionate experiment.
Commission follow-up
Complete a thirty-day covenant. Follow up at 24 hours, 72 hours, 30 days, and eight to twelve weeks. Gather participant understanding, result usability, observer agreement, accessibility, boundary concerns, service outcomes, and sustained fruit.
